The live set

Familiar songs, different paths.

The Bayou Gipsies are a four-piece Gulf Coast band with a distinct way of approaching familiar songs. Rooted in blues, soul, and funk, and informed by rock, alternative music, Latin rhythm, and a little classical tension, the group does not reproduce records note for note.

They build their own arrangements from the harmonic bones of a song, leaving room for sharp transitions, unexpected turns, and improvisation that changes from night to night.

The Bayou Gipsies performing live

About the band

A show with shape, not a replay.

Led by Anthony Puskás on vocals and guitar, with Fred Linton on saxophone, keys, and vocals, Stan “Dupp” Allison on bass, and Ray Plummer on drums, the Bayou Gipsies pair a deep pocket with attentive musicianship.

They are carefully rehearsed where it matters: transitions land together, arrangements have shape, and the group can move through complex material. Yet the spaces inside those structures stay alive. Most guitar solos are improvised, and the musicians leave room for a song to find a different path every night.

At home in listening rooms, breweries, festivals, ice houses, and private events across the Dickinson, Galveston, Bacliff, and South Houston area, the band can move a room without treating it like a jukebox.
